MISSION FOR ESSENTIAL DRUGS AND SUPPLIES (MEDS) VISIT UNITID
MEDS is a
faith-based organization that operates a pharmaceutical quality control
laboratory. MEDS is in the process of expanding the laboratory to accommodate
microbiological tests in-house which is expected to comply with the
requirements of an ISO 7 and 5 equivalent to Biosafety Level 2 and 3
respectively. The visit to UNITID was to accomplish the following:
1.
Appreciate the layout of UNITID containment and how it affects the workflow,
human traffic and material handling/transport
2. Discuss
technical issues that have affected UNITID since installation of the
microbiology laboratory
3. Get
insight on how to deal with the contractors and maintenance personnel
4. Discuss
how to prepare for any anticipated challenges
